Talks on women held

JAKARTA (JP): Convention Watch, a group monitoring the
implementation of the United Nations Convention on the
Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, is
holding a one-day seminar today.

The talks, focusing on women and the future free trade era,
will be held at the LPEM (Lembaga Penelitian Ekonomi dan
Masyarakat) building of the University of Indonesia, Jl. Salemba
Raya No. 4 in Central Jakarta.

Psychologist Saparinah Sadli, an advisor of the group, will
speak at the discussion. She also heads the university's post-
graduate women's studies program.

Other seminars planned for tomorrow and Thursday will discuss
the results of the Fourth World Conference on Women, which was
held in September in the People's Republic of China.

Wednesday and Thursday's talks, which will take place at the
Wisma Karsa Pemuda building in Senayan, Central Jakarta, are
being held in cooperation with the New Zealand embassy. (anr)
