Talks on women held

JAKARTA (JP): Convention Watch, a group monitoring the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, is holding a one-day seminar today.

The talks, focusing on women and the future free trade era, will be held at the LPEM (Lembaga Penelitian Ekonomi dan Masyarakat) building of the University of Indonesia, Jl. Salemba Raya No. 4 in Central Jakarta.

Psychologist Saparinah Sadli, an advisor of the group, will speak at the discussion. She also heads the university's post- graduate women's studies program.

Other seminars planned for tomorrow and Thursday will discuss the results of the Fourth World Conference on Women, which was held in September in the People's Republic of China.

Wednesday and Thursday's talks, which will take place at the Wisma Karsa Pemuda building in Senayan, Central Jakarta, are being held in cooperation with the New Zealand embassy. (anr)
