Taking Place in July, Al-Washliyah Congress to Prioritise Community Economic Movement
The Central Board of Al Jam’iyatul Washliyah will hold its XXIII Congress on 7-10 July 2026, during which strategies for a movement to strengthen the community’s economy will be discussed to safeguard faith.
Al-Washliyah assesses that a weak community economy is feared to make their faith easily shaken, hence strengthening the community’s economy is deemed important.
General Chairman of the Central Board of Al Jam’iyatul Washliyah, KH Masyhuril Khamis, stated that the community still needs to be reformed and protected.
In addition to reforming their faith and morals, the movement to strengthen the community’s economy must be a concern for Islamic mass organisations. Strengthening the community’s economy to protect the community’s faith.
“We must reform our community, protect our community, in addition to faith and morals (of the community that must be reformed), the economic strengthening movement must also be a focus for Islamic mass organisations,” said Kiai Masyhuril to Republika.co.id on Friday (8/5/2026).
He conveyed that in the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW, there was Bilal bin Rabah who passed away while in a state of remembrance. Is the faith of the current generation that strong? For the current generation, the greatest challenge is materialism.
The first step for the movement to strengthen the community’s economy, according to Kiai Masyhuril, is to incorporate an entrepreneurship curriculum in Al-Washliyah schools.
“Al-Washliyah has schools, later we will make entrepreneurship a local content subject,” said Kiai Masyhuril.
Kiai Masyhuril emphasised that entrepreneurship is material that must be delivered to students in schools. The first mindset of students to be changed is to have an entrepreneurial mindset.
If they graduate from school and cannot continue to university due to financial constraints, but they already have an entrepreneurial mindset.
It is hoped that they can engage in entrepreneurship to meet their living needs. The companions of Prophet Muhammad SAW who are guaranteed paradise were almost all entrepreneurs.
