Take Note: Jakarta Traffic Operation Targets These Violations, Monitored by e-TLE and Manual Checks
The Patuh Jaya 2026 operation will run for 14 days in Jakarta and its surrounding areas, from 26 October to 8 November. This year’s operation will target several traffic violations.
“This 2026 Patuh Jaya operation is aimed at traffic violations that cause public concern and endanger road safety,” Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner General Dadang Hartanto told reporters on Monday (26 October 2026).
Dadang said the police would prioritise educating and warning offenders. However, certain violations would be subject to enforcement in accordance with the applicable regulations.
“If an offence is serious and dangerous, enforcement will be the final step. But we want to tell the public: let us all look after ourselves and stay safe in traffic—for our own safety and that of others,” he said.
Among the violations being targeted, riding a motorbike without a helmet and driving against the flow of traffic are common. Dadang said the police had mapped locations where violations were likely to occur.
“We have mapped the locations, including those where people drive against the flow. We have identified the areas that should be a focus for the public. We also opened an information service recently and received several reports about this,” he added.
Dadang said enforcement would be carried out in two ways: using e-TLE cameras and manual checks for certain violations. He reiterated that warnings and education would remain the priority.
“Enforcement is a last resort. We do not want it to come to that, but if conduct endangers or threatens safety, action will be taken. We will use both conventional methods and e-TLE,” he said.
“For conventional enforcement, I have asked the traffic director to assign only certain officers, so that checks are truly selective. The officers will be appointed and certified, and their integrity will also be assessed. Officers cannot take enforcement action arbitrarily,” he added.
The 12 types of violations targeted in the 2026 Patuh Jaya operation are:
Motorcyclists riding without a helmet that meets Indonesian National Standard (SNI) requirements
Car occupants not wearing seat belts
Using a mobile phone while driving
Violating road signs or markings
Running a red light
Exceeding the speed limit
Driving against the flow of traffic
Carrying an excessive load
Carrying more than one passenger on a motorbike
Entering a busway lane
Parking on a pavement
Using a vehicle registration plate (TNKB) that does not comply with regulations
