Take Note! IDX Closed 16–17 February 2026 as Investors Adopt Wait-and-See Stance Ahead of BI Rate Decision

Jakarta, VIVA – In celebration of Chinese New Year 2577 Kongzili, the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has announced that share trading will be closed for two days, on Monday–Tuesday, 16–17 February 2026. Trading will resume as normal on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, with Session I running from 09:00–12:00 WIB and Session II from 13:30–15:49 WIB.

Ahead of the long weekend, the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) came under pressure in the red zone. The JCI fell 0.64 per cent, or 53.06 points, to 8,212.27 at the close of trading on Friday, 13 February 2026.

Transaction activity was recorded as fairly brisk. The total transaction value throughout the trading session reached Rp24.41 trillion, with a volume of 494.04 million shares and a total of 2.86 million transactions.

By sector, infrastructure shares recorded the deepest correction at 1.23 per cent. The basic materials sector weakened by 1.06 per cent, followed by the healthcare sector, which fell 0.96 per cent. On the other hand, the transportation sector posted the highest gain at 1.66 per cent, buoyed by positive sentiment from government incentives for the shipbuilding industry. The energy sector rose 1.32 per cent and the cyclical consumer sector gained 0.95 per cent.

The Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team noted that market participants tended to exercise caution ahead of the extended Chinese New Year holiday period, whilst awaiting the Bank Indonesia interest rate (BI Rate) decision to be announced on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

“Investors will be closely watching the Bank Indonesia Board of Governors’ Meeting, which is expected to maintain the BI Rate at 4.75 per cent,” the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team stated, as quoted from their daily research note.
