Take Note! Deadline for Vehicle Tax Amnesty in Jakarta Announced
The Jakarta Provincial Government is providing relief for motor vehicle owners by waiving administrative sanctions, specifically late payment interest for Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fees (BBNKB). This policy was established through the Decree of the Head of the Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) Number e-0018 of 2026, issued in celebration of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary.
“This administrative sanction waiver facility is granted to taxpayers who make payments or deposits of outstanding taxes during the period from 1 June 2026 to 31 August 2026,” Bapenda stated in its announcement on Tuesday (2/6/2026).
Through this policy, taxpayers with outstanding PKB or BBNKB arrears can settle their obligations without being charged additional interest due to late payments. “Thus, the public has a three-month window to settle their PKB or BBNKB obligations without incurring late payment interest,” the agency added.
Bapenda Jakarta noted that the policy is expected to encourage the public to fulfil their tax obligations and increase compliance with motor vehicle tax payments. Furthermore, this step serves as an effort by the regional government to provide ease to citizens who have delayed tax payments due to the burden of accumulated late fees.
The government hopes that the momentum of Jakarta’s anniversary celebrations can be utilised by residents to regularise their vehicle administration. In addition to reducing the burden on taxpayers, revenue from the vehicle tax sector remains a vital source of regional income used to fund development and public services in the capital.
“Simply pay the principal vehicle tax during the programme period, and the Regional Tax system will automatically adjust to apply the applicable sanction waiver,” Bapenda concluded.
