Takdir's widow dead at 70
JAKARTA (JP): Margret Axer, 70, the widow of Sutan Takdir Alisjahbana, died of stroke and heart failure complications yesterday, just one month after her husband's death.
The German-born Margret, who was Sutan's third wife, died after undergoing treatment at the Harapan Kita hospital in West Jakarta for the past week. She had a stroke last November.
One of Takdir's grandchildren, Trita Amahorseya, said Margret will be buried next to Takdir's grave at the family bungalow, in Tugu in the Puncak hill resort, tomorrow.
Takdir, one of Indonesia's most influential literary figures, died on July 17 of lung complications. He was 86.
He married Margret in 1953, after his first wife, R.A. Rohani Daha died in 1935 and his second wife, Raden Roro Sugiarti died in 1952. (02)
