Takbiran Night: Sudirman-Thamrin Roads to Close from 6 PM WIB
The Sudirman-Thamrin road in Central Jakarta will be closed starting from 6 PM WIB on Friday (20/3). This measure is in preparation for the car-free night welcoming the Takbiran night of Eid al-Fitr 2026.
“A special car-free night on the Sudirman-Thamrin route, where there will be a parade activity starting from Patung Kuda to HI,” said the Director of Traffic of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Komarudin, at Bundaran HI, Jakarta, on Friday (20/3), as reported by Detik.
Initially, the road closure will be in effect from 6 PM to 10 PM WIB. However, depending on the situation, it could be extended until midnight.
“This route will be closed starting from 6 PM until 10 PM as planned, possibly extending to 11 PM or even midnight,” said Komarudin.
On Takbiran night, Komarudin stated, all personnel from the 2026 Ketupat Operation at Polda Metro Jaya will be deployed to secure the situation.
“For the Sudirman-Thamrin route itself, no fewer than 557 personnel will be deployed, as there will be several road sections that we will engineer, including anticipating large crowds of enthusiastic residents coming to this location,” Komarudin explained.
Previously, Komarudin also urged Jakarta residents not to conduct convoys while celebrating Takbiran night to maintain security.
“On this occasion, we urge the people of the Capital to refrain from conducting convoys during the Takbiran implementation,” said Komarudin.
He added that after the mudik flow is completed, Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya will focus on securing the return flow of holidaymakers to Jakarta with various traffic engineering policies to disperse vehicle density.
“And finally, we will once again deploy maximum strength to welcome our siblings returning from mudik,” said Komarudin.
It is known that the government has set Eid al-Fitr 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah to fall on 21 March 2026 following the Isbat session on Thursday (19/3).
