Takbiran Night in Jakarta Features Torch Parade with 5,000 Participants and 1,000 Drums
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is holding a series of events titled “Eid Mubarak Jakarta: Rhythm of Fountain” at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, Jakarta, on Takbiran night, Friday (20/3/2026), from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM WIB. The programme includes Rampak Bedug, a Festival of 1,000 Drums, a torch parade with 5,000 participants, and visual attractions such as dancing fountains, lighting shows, laser shows, and flying LED displays. A religious atmosphere will be enhanced through a sermon by Ustadz Akri and a special performance by Hadad Alwi. This initiative is part of efforts to create more welcoming public spaces while strengthening community bonds in welcoming Eid al-Fitr. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the event represents an innovation to provide a new experience for residents in enjoying Takbiran night. “I have approved the event for that night from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM WIB; we will hold an event called Car Free Night,” Pramono said in his official statement. To support the smooth running of the event, the Provincial Government will implement traffic engineering with strict restrictions on private vehicles on several roads around the venue. This policy is aimed at ensuring the comfort and safety of visitors during the event. Nevertheless, public access will remain maintained through public transportation services, including Transjakarta. “Private vehicles will not be allowed to enter, but Transjakarta will continue to operate so that the public can still carry out activities and enjoy the event,” Pramono explained. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government invites all residents to enliven Takbiran night in an orderly and communal manner. This moment is expected not only to be a celebration but also a space to strengthen the sense of brotherhood amid Jakarta’s diversity.
