Takbir Processions and Torch Parades Enliven Eid al-Adha Eve Across Regions

Multiple regions across Indonesia held takbir processions to celebrate Eid al-Adha 1447 AH on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. The festive traditions featured torch parades, processions, and echoing takbir chants throughout towns and villages. In Pagu Wates Village, Kediri Regency, East Java, residents carried torches and paraded gunungan (mountains of agricultural produce). Meanwhile, in Sambiroto, Nganjuk, East Java, mosque youth organised torch processions around the village as part of the tradition to welcome Eid al-Adha. Similar scenes were witnessed in Banyuwangi, East Java, where residents of all ages joined takbir processions carrying torches and lanterns while chanting takbir along city streets. In Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, the provincial government organised a takbir parade with 55 participants from government agencies, santri, and community organisations. Hundreds of Muslims in Ubung, Denpasar, Bali, also participated in takbir processions to mark Eid al-Adha 1447 AH. In Lhokseumawe, Aceh, children and residents of Kandang Village celebrated the takbir night with torch parades through the neighbourhood.
