Tajikistan President begins visit

JAKARTA: Tajikistan President Emomali Sharipovich Rahmonov began his five-day state visit to Indonesia on Monday, aimed at enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.

The President is slated to hold bilateral talks with Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri on Tuesday at the Presidential Palace.

Rahmonov is also expected to meet other high-ranking state officials, including Vice President Hamzah Haz, People's Consultative Assembly speaker Amien Rais and House of Representatives speaker Akbar Tandjung.

During his stay, President Rahmonov will also visit the Jababeka industrial estate in Cikarang, West Java, 40 kilometers east of the capital, on Wednesday.

Before leaving the country, President Rahmonov will also make a stop on the resort island of Bali.--JP
