Taj Yasin conveyed this while representing Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi in receiving the working visit of DPR RI’s Commission VIII during the recess of the fourth session of the 2025-2026 legislative year at the Central Java Governor’s Office in Semarang on Wednesday (22/4). During the occasion, he reported the achievements in sanitation development in Central Java. Throughout 2025, the Central Java Provincial Government has realised the construction of 5,328 toilet units for the community. However, the need for proper toilets remains significant. To date, there are still around 21,542 households that do not have access to healthy toilets. “The construction of toilets and the provision of clean water access are our focus to improve the health status of the community,” said Taj Yasin in his statement on Wednesday (22/4/2026). To accelerate the fulfilment of these needs, the Central Java Provincial Government hopes for support from the central government through the APBN scheme, including synergy with DPR RI. “We request support so that the shortage of sanitation for around 21,542 homes can be realised immediately,” he continued. He added that sanitation interventions play a strategic role in supporting other health programmes, including stunting prevention. Currently, the stunting prevalence in Central Java is recorded at 9.77 percent or around 188,533 toddlers. Meanwhile, the Head of the Commission VIII DPR RI Team, Abdul Wachid, stated that he has noted the sanitation needs in Central Java as one of the priorities that require support. “We are absorbing aspirations from Central Java, including the sanitation needs that still require assistance,” he said. His side assured that they would follow up on these needs with relevant ministries/institutions, especially the working partners of Commission VIII, to support the acceleration of improving community sanitation. On that occasion, Commission VIII DPR RI also distributed aid for Central Java with a total value reaching trillions of rupiah. The aid includes support from the Ministry of Social Affairs amounting to Rp 2.76 trillion, free halal certification for 95,045 micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) actors worth Rp 21.8 billion. Furthermore, other aid includes the Baznas programme Rp 4.08 billion, BNPB support Rp 2.3 billion, and non-physical Special Allocation Funds (DAK) from the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Rp 7.95 billion.
