Taiwanese ship captain murdered

MANADO, North Sulawesi: Police are investigating the death
this week of a Taiwanese fishing boat captain.

Tsae Wen Chou, 49, was allegedly murdered by one of his crew,
David Ramil, 21, a Philippine national.

Bitung police precinct chief Lt. Col. Slamet Darmawan said the
murder happened on the night of Nov. 11 on the Kluwung which was
fishing in Indonesian waters near East Timor.

The captain's body is being held at the Malalayang Hospital in
Manado while the authorities contact the Taiwanese embassy in
Jakarta and the deceased's relatives in Taiwan.

Ramil has been detained and the police will question the 30
crew members, Slamet said, reported Antara. The crew consists of
15 Taiwanese, nine Indonesian and six Filipinos. (pan)
