Taiwanese Companies Express Strong Interest in Investing in Nusantara Capital City
A number of prominent Taiwanese companies have expressed strong interest in investing in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), a rapidly developing area designated as Indonesia's new seat of government, spanning parts of North Penajam Paser and Kutai Kartanegara regencies in East Kalimantan.
The interest emerged during an official visit by a delegation from the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) to the IKN area on Friday, 16 May 2025. The Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, warmly welcomed the delegation and affirmed his organisation's readiness to build long-term collaboration.
"A number of Taiwanese companies are interested in investing in IKN," said Basuki Hadimuljono when responding to questions regarding the TETO delegation's visit to IKN in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser, on Friday.
TETO representative Bruce Hung stated that his office sees significant potential for investment cooperation in IKN, particularly in the infrastructure, clean energy, and smart city technology sectors. He also affirmed Taiwan's readiness to serve as a strategic partner in realising the vision of IKN as an inclusive and environmentally friendly city of the future.
"Taiwan is ready to be a strategic partner for Indonesia in realising the vision of IKN as an inclusive and green city of the future," he said.
The TETO visit represents a positive signal for the future of IKN, which continues to attract international investor interest. With Taiwan's support, the smart city development project gains an even stronger foundation in realising Indonesia's ambition of a world-class capital city.
