Taiwanese, Chinese deported

BITUNG, North Sulawesi: Immigration officials deported here yesterday 93 Chinese and Taiwanese nationals working as sailors in the North Sulawesi capital of Manado, after they overstayed their visas for eight months.

The foreigners had forged their immigration documents and entered Bitung port illegally, head of the local immigration office, Nur Hutoro, was quoted by Antara as saying yesterday.

The Chinese and Taiwanese nationals have been sent home on two local ships.

"We only provided food for their voyage home," Hutoro said.

Before leaving, the foreigners were placed in quarantine for two weeks. (swe)
