Taiwan teacher to be deported
JAKARTA: A Taiwan citizen is soon to be deported after she was
caught red-handed working as a teacher at an English-language
school in Jambi, the directorate general of immigration said.
Hsu Hsiu Hsiang was arrested Feb. 28 while teaching at a
school run by the Ananda Marga Indonesia Foundation.
The statement did not give her age but described her as
"beautiful". She pleaded her innocence despite being caught red-
handed, it added.
The immigration office also plans to deport Bakhtaj Zarin, a
Pakistani who managed to bypass an immigration counter when
entering Indonesia.
Bakhtaj is reported to have married an Indonesian woman,
identified as Jamillah, in 1996 and had settled in Palembang,
South Sumatra.
His wife had asked that he be allowed to take up Indonesian
nationality, the immigration office said in a statement.
It added that Bakhtaj had been transferred to the immigration
quarantine center in Jakarta pending his deportation. (emb)
