Taiwan tanker to ship RI LNG
TAIPEI (Dow Jones): The first liquefied natural gas tanker
partly owned by Taiwan's state-owned Chinese Petroleum Corp will
begin operations in early 2000, an official with Chinese
Petroleum's press coordination department said Tuesday.
The tanker will transport LNG to Taiwan from Indonesia, which
provides the island with 60 percent of its LNG.
The tanker will test sail in November and be handed over by
the end of 1999 to Faraway Maritime Shipping Co, which is 40
percent owned by Chinese Petroleum.
