Taiwan Launches Website for Chinese Citizens to Leak Intelligence
Taiwan has launched a dedicated website for Chinese citizens to leak intelligence information. Taipei authorities are inviting Chinese nationals ‘who share the same democratic values’ to collaborate in reporting on Beijing. China, which claims the democratically governed Taiwan as part of its sovereign territory, has threatened to use force to take it. Meanwhile, Taipei accuses Beijing of using espionage and infiltration to undermine its defences. Taiwan’s National Security Bureau (NSB), as reported by AFP on Monday (15/6/2026), introduced the platform with a one-minute AI-generated video. The video depicts a Chinese civil servant watching his colleagues being dismissed and investigated, reflecting what the NSB described as ‘the pervasive atmosphere that everyone is in a tense situation under China’s totalitarian regime’. The NSB claimed that ‘an increasing number of people’ are contacting agencies in Taiwan ‘with a desire to provide various types of information’. The bureau added that the reporting channel is based on ‘practices adopted by intelligence agencies in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel’. The NSB further stated that it will ‘strictly screen’, evaluate, and follow up on submissions to the platform using technology.
