JAKARTA (JP): Fifty-five entrepreneurs from Taiwan announced
here yesterday they will do a feasibility study on investing in
Medan, North Sumatra.
US$10 million has been allocated by the Taiwanese government
to cover the cost.
William Y. L. Shih of Sunsino Development Associate Inc., said
at the business meeting between the Taiwanese trade and
investment delegates and Indonesian executives that the funding
for the feasibility study might be increased.
He said the Taiwanese delegates were representatives of small
and medium scale enterprises in textiles, electronic goods,
automotive spare parts, chemical materials and recreation
facilities.
Sugihono Kadarisman, deputy chairman of the Investment
Coordinating Board, acknowledged that Medan interests Taiwanese
entrepreneurs because it has a market access to the triangle of
growth involving Singapore, Johor of Malaysia and Riau of
Indonesia.
He also said the government is suggesting that Taiwanese
entrepreneurs establish investment projects in Lampung, southern
Sumatra. (32)
