Taiwan, Canadian sign deal
TAIPEI (DPA): Taiwan and Canada will each allow a second airline to serve the Taipei-Vancouver route from June due to the increase in passengers, EVA Airways said Friday.
Under a code-sharing agreement, EVA and Air Canada will join the route which has been served by Mandarin Airlines and Canadian Airline International since 1990.
"From June 2 to July 5, In the first month, EVA will offer three flights per week using a Boeing 747-400 jet. After July 5, Air Canada will also offer three flights per week," EVA spokesman Ke Wen-ling said.
Air Canada is Canada's largest airline while EVA is Taiwan's second airline.
EVA has been applying to fly the route for several years, but Canada said it would allow a second airline to serve the route when passengers on each airline passed 300,000 per year, which has now been attained.
