Tailan Government Cancels 60-Day Visa-Free Regime for 93 Countries
Tailan’s government has formally scrapped the 60-day visa-free policy for citizens of 93 countries and restored the rule that stays without a visa are limited to 30 days. The decision was announced by the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Tailan, Surasak Phancharoenworakul, on Tuesday, 19 May. The move comes after the cabinet evaluated the effectiveness of the policy in force since 2024. The Tailan government will review entry parameters through the visa policy committee, considering national security and economic interests for each country. ‘The cabinet has decided to cancel the 60-day visa-free regime for more than 90 countries and return to the previous criteria,’ Phancharoenworakul said, as quoted by Khaosod newspaper. The cancellation was triggered by widespread abuse of tourism regulations and rising crime involving foreign nationals. With the rule repealed, most foreigners will now be allowed to stay in Tailan for 30 days without a visa. The Tailan government emphasised that in the future, visa-free facilities will be granted only after stricter evaluation of each country to ensure security stability in the context of the tourism sector’s recovery.
