Tadjus reelected Golkar chairman
JAKARTA (JP): Tadjus Sobirin has been entrusted to chair
Golkar's Jakarta chapter for the 1998/2003 period after being
reelected in a congress which ended on Saturday night.
Tadjus was first elected to lead the chapter in 1993.
He told reporters after his reelection that he had no target
for the next general election, which is scheduled to be held in
May 1999.
"There is no target because Golkar is no longer popular. What
we have to do now is just do the best we can," he said.
The former Tangerang regent will be assisted by nine deputy
chairmen, including Ade Surapriatna and Sugeng Suprijatna, both
of whom are deputy speakers on the city council.
The leader of the Golkar faction in the council, Fatommy
Asaari, was elected chapter secretary, and Jack Monang Napitupulu
was voted in as treasurer. (ind)
