JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Range anxiety, or concerns about driving range and the limitations of charging infrastructure, remains the main obstacle for people to switch to electric motorcycles.

In response, PT Ilectra Motor Group (IMG), the producer of the Alva electric motorcycle, continues to accelerate the development of the charging ecosystem aggressively. This step is taken so that their product line can be truly relied upon as the primary daily transport mode.

Purbaya Yudha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alva, states that market education process in Indonesia requires a long time.

‘Issues related to range anxiety or charge anxiety can be addressed by the charging stations we build. And this is the core: we want Alva to be the primary transportation for our users,’ said Purbaya when met in Jakarta, Monday (18/5/2026).

To realise this target, Alva is gradually increasing the number of charging points. According to company records, Alva’s charging infrastructure growth has increased significantly compared with last year.

Moreover, Purbaya explained that if we aggregate via the MyAlva app, users can now monitor around 930 charging locations available and ready to use.

The app also detects the real-time status of charging slot availability.

As an additional stimulus to spark consumer interest, charging facilities within Alva’s official charging station ecosystem are currently provided free of charge.

Currently, the Java and Bali regions remain the main markets for the adoption of Alva’s ecosystem. Nevertheless, Alva sees a very large potential for market movement in major cities outside Java and Bali, such as Medan, Makassar, and several areas in Kalimantan.
