Tabang Police Seize 669 Bottles of Alcohol in Joint Raid in Kukar
Hundreds of bottles of alcoholic beverages have been seized and secured by Tabang Police together with elements of the Tabang Sub-district Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam), Kutai Kartanegara Regency (Kukar), East Kalimantan (Kaltim), following a joint raid conducted over the past two days across several areas in Tabang District.
The operation was carried out to prevent disturbances to public security and order (Kamtibmas) arising from the negative impacts of illegally distributed alcoholic beverages.
Kukar Police Chief, AKBP Khairul Basyar, through Tabang Police Chief IPTU Yohan Lihu, accompanied by Tabang Sub-district Head Azmi Riyandi Elvander and Tabang Military District Commander Captain Inf. Priyanto, stated on Wednesday (12/8) that in an effort to maintain public order and curb the circulation of illegal alcohol, his team together with Forkopimcam elements had conducted enforcement activities over the past two days in several areas of Tabang District. As a result, hundreds of bottles of alcohol of various brands and types were seized and secured.
“We targeted a number of shops and stalls located in Muara Ritan Village as well as the Pondok Labu area, Buluq Sen Village, Tabang District. The inspection was carried out as a preventive measure to ensure there is no circulation of unlicensed alcoholic beverages that could potentially disrupt the public order situation,” he asserted.
From the 10 locations, he continued, officers secured hundreds of bottles of alcoholic beverages suspected of being traded without the required legal permits.
The items seized consisted of 669 bottles of alcoholic beverages of various brands, 63 cans of alcoholic beverages, 87 bottles of 70 percent alcohol in 100 millilitre packaging, 25 litres of a traditional beverage known as Jakan, and 64 bottles of the traditional beverage Cap Tikus in 600 millilitre packaging.
He stressed that the raid was a form of synergy between the police and Forkopimcam elements in maintaining security stability while preventing the negative impacts that could arise from the circulation of illegal alcohol.
“All items found have been secured for further processing. Parties selling or distributing alcohol without a permit will be dealt with in accordance with applicable legal provisions,” Yohan stated.
The police chief said that monitoring of alcohol circulation will continue to be carried out periodically involving various relevant elements. In addition to enforcement, the police are also prioritising prevention measures through education and appeals to the public.
On that occasion, Yohan added, Tabang Police invited the public not to sell or distribute alcohol illegally. The public is also expected to play an active role in providing information to the police if they become aware of any alcohol distribution activities that could potentially cause security disturbances.
“Through this activity, we from Tabang Police together with Tabang Forkopimcam affirm our commitment to continue synergising to maintain regional security and create a safe, orderly and conducive community environment in Tabang District,” he concluded.
It is noted that some time ago there was a commotion among youths involving community groups, which is strongly suspected to have been caused by the negative impact of illegally sold alcohol in the Tabang area.
