Tabanan Wins 2026 Local Wisdom-Based Development Award
The Tabanan Regency Government has achieved the Commendable Development Innovation Programme Award in the category of Accelerating Development Based on Local Wisdom at the detikBali-Nusra Awards 2026. The award was received by the Assistant for Government and Public Welfare of Tabanan, Anak Agung Ngurah Agung Satria Tenaya, representing the Regent of Tabanan, I Komang Gede Sanjaya, at Trans Resort Bali on Friday (3/7/2026).
The award was presented as a form of appreciation for the Tabanan Regency Government’s commitment to integrating regional development with the preservation of local wisdom, particularly the subak system, which is a cultural heritage of the Balinese people.
The Tabanan Regency Government was deemed consistent in maintaining the sustainability of the subak irrigation network as a pillar of the agricultural sector and regional food security. Simultaneously, the local government continues to uphold the cultural values and the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in every development process.
This commitment is also realised through efforts to maintain the sustainability of the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This area serves as a symbol of Tabanan’s success in blending the agricultural sector, cultural preservation, and sustainable tourism.
Furthermore, the Tabanan Regency Government continues to strive to protect productive agricultural land from the threat of land conversion. Various programmes are also being implemented to strengthen the existence of the subak as a cultural identity, an ecotourism attraction, and a foundation for sustainable development in the Tabanan Regency.
The detikBali-Nusra Awards 2026 serves as an appreciation event organised by detikBali to honour figures, institutions, communities, and business actors deemed innovative and contributing significantly to the progress of Bali and the Nusa Tenggara region. The event acts as recognition for various efforts that drive development, economic growth, and social strengthening in the region.
