Tabanan Wins 2026 Local Wisdom-Based Development Award

The Tabanan Regency Government has won the Commendable Development Innovation Programme Award in the category of Accelerating Development Based on Local Wisdom at the detikBali-Nusra Awards 2026. The award was received by the Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare of Tabanan, Anak Agung Ngurah Agung Satria Tenaya, representing Tabanan Regent I Komang Gede Sanjaya at the Trans Resort Bali on Friday (3/7/2026). The award was given in appreciation of the Tabanan Regency Government’s commitment to integrating regional development with the preservation of local wisdom, particularly the subak system, which is a cultural heritage of Balinese society. The Tabanan Regency Government is considered consistent in maintaining the sustainability of the subak irrigation network as a pillar of the agricultural sector and regional food security. Furthermore, the local government continues to uphold the cultural values and philosophy of Tri Hita Karana in every development process. This commitment is also realised through efforts to preserve the sustainability of the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces area, which has been designated as part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. The area has become a symbol of Tabanan’s success in combining the agricultural sector, cultural preservation, and sustainable tourism. In addition, the Tabanan Regency Government continues to strive to protect productive agricultural land from the threat of land conversion. Various programmes are also implemented to strengthen the existence of subak as a cultural identity, an ecotourism attraction, and a foundation for sustainable development in Tabanan Regency.
