Tabanan Vocational Training Centre Requires Infrastructure Repairs and Additional Facilities
Several workshop buildings at the Tabanan Regency Vocational Training Centre (BLK) in Meliling Village, Kerambitan District, have yet to undergo comprehensive renovation. In addition to infrastructure, supporting training facilities also remain less than optimal.
Head of the Tabanan BLK Technical Implementation Unit, AA Ayu Kesuma Yuliantari, stated that the BLK building was a grant from the Ministry of Manpower in 1981. Over the course of approximately 45 years, some buildings have suffered age-related damage. As a result, the training process has become less adequate due to infrastructure constraints.
At the site, Yuliantari said there are six buildings designated for community training, including workshops for business management, processing, beauty, air conditioning, motorcycle repair, and sewing.
“Of the six workshops, several have sustained damage and have not been renovated, such as the motorcycle repair, air conditioning, and hall workshops,” Yuliantari said in an interview on Monday (3/8/2026).
The condition of the damaged buildings has been reported to the Tabanan Regent and has received attention. However, comprehensive renovations must await budget allocation, as the local government also has other priority projects.
“We remain grateful because several rooms have been renovated, such as the office, some workshop rooms, and currently the sewing workshop is underway. Going forward, we certainly hope the improvements can continue,” she said.
Beyond the condition of the buildings, the most pressing need currently is the provision of training facilities and infrastructure, particularly practice equipment. One of the main requirements is the procurement of computers to support training in business management and digital skills, as well as more representative sewing machines.
The BLK has several instructors in each field. Dwi Pratiwi, an instructor in the business management department, said the biggest obstacle faced in providing training is the lack of optimal facilities and infrastructure, especially the need for computers as the primary learning device.
According to her, these limited facilities mean the teaching and learning process cannot run optimally. Both instructors and participants must adapt to the condition of the available equipment.
“The business management field is highly dependent on computers. Because the existing facilities are still limited, the learning process cannot take place optimally,” she said.
Nevertheless, Dwi hopes the government will pay more attention to the needs of the Tabanan BLK. She believes that improving training facilities will have a direct impact on enhancing the quality of human resources and help reduce the unemployment rate in Tabanan Regency.
“The hope is that the remaining needs can receive attention. BLK plays an important role in improving community skills so they become more empowered and able to create job opportunities,” she concluded.
