Tabanan Regent Responds Positively to DPRD's Push for Digitalisation of Local Revenue

Tabanan Regent I Komang Gede Sanjaya has responded positively to a push from the Regional House of Representatives’ (DPRD) Budget Committee for the local government to optimise locally generated revenue (PAD) through the digitalisation of tax and levy management. The use of digital technology aims to improve data accuracy while minimising potential leakage of regional revenue.

According to Regent Sanjaya, digitalisation will produce more accurate and precise data, as well as reduce the potential for errors in regional financial management. “Digitalisation will yield more accurate and precise results. Errors will also be fewer because the digital system provides data certainty,” Sanjaya said after a plenary session at the Tabanan DPRD on Thursday (23/7/2026).

Sanjaya noted that the implementation of digitalisation is not new. It has already been applied within the Tabanan Regency Government, such as in the employee attendance system. Going forward, similar concepts will be expanded, including for the distribution of grants, social assistance (bansos), and Special Financial Assistance (BKK). “Ideally, all aid distribution should use a by name by address system so that recipients can be clearly verified,” he added.

His administration is also open to using more advanced identification technology, not only fingerprints but also retina scans if necessary. With such a system, the potential for duplicate or fictitious recipients can be suppressed, making all government programmes more targeted and accountable.

Previously, the Tabanan DPRD Budget Committee report recommended that the local government continue to optimise regional revenue by strengthening an effective and efficient financial management system. One key focus is the digitalisation of local tax and levy objects as an effort to increase PAD while reinforcing transparency and accountability in regional financial management.
