The Tabanan Regency Government is encouraging managers of several beach destinations in the Tabanan coastal area to continue their development efforts. One method proposed is the organisation of festivals as an effort to promote these sites and attract more tourists.

The Deputy Regent of Tabanan, I Made Dirga, stated that several coastal areas, such as Pasut Beach, Yeh Gangga Beach, Kelating Beach, and Soka Beach, possess panoramas that are just as attractive as more established tourist destinations. He noted that festivals at these destinations do not necessarily need to be lavish.

“It does not need to be luxurious; the important thing is to be able to present something different and new,” said Dirga on Tuesday (1/9/2026).

Dirga believes that the potential for coastal tourism in Tabanan can still be further developed. He acknowledged that several of these destinations are not yet as popular as the Tanah Lot Tourist Destination, thus requiring stronger promotional strategies.

According to Dirga, organising festivals will act as a specific magnet for tourists. These festivals also serve as a space to showcase local arts and cultural potential.

“This serves as a form of promotion. The government often emphasises that even if a place is already known, promotions such as festivals remain a special magnet for visitors,” he added.

Furthermore, Dirga continued, festivals also serve as a platform for artists and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Taban and to introduce their products and regional potential. “In this way, tourism potential does not only rely on already popular destinations, but also opens opportunities for other coastal areas to become more widely known to tourists,” he added.

Dirga hopes that strengthening existing festivals can become part of Tabanan’s broader strategy for tourism development. He cited the recent Tanah Lot Art and Food Festival, which received high enthusiasm from the public, recording approximately 10,000 visitors over the three-day event.
