Tabanan Regency Commemorates Pancasila Day and Launches Bung Karno Month 2026
Deputy Regent of Tabanan, I Made Dirga, presided over the commemoration of Pancasila Day 2026 under the national theme “Pancasila, Unifier of the Nation, Foundation of World Peace”. The ceremony, held at Alit Saputra Field in Tabanan on Monday, 1 June 2026, also marked the launch of the eighth Bung Karno Month 2026.
Dirga read out a statement from the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), emphasising that the commemoration is not merely an annual ritual but a moment for reflection to ensure Pancasila’s values remain alive in the hearts of all Indonesians.
The statement highlighted that the theme underscores Pancasila’s relevance not only in preserving national unity but also as a solution for lasting global peace. Citing the preamble of the 1945 Constitution, Indonesia has a constitutional duty to contribute to world order based on independence, perpetual peace, and social justice. Pancasila forms the foundation of Indonesia’s free and active foreign policy, while the principle of consultation and consensus serves as a crucial diplomatic tool to bridge differences and resolve conflicts.
Indonesia’s peacekeeping contributions under the United Nations, role in regional conflict mediation, and consistent advocacy for justice for colonised nations exemplify the second principle of Pancasila: Just and Civilised Humanity.
“We want the world to see that peace is not merely the absence of war, but the presence of justice for all humanity,” Dirga quoted from the statement.
The statement also stressed that Indonesia’s progress is not a mere dream; economic and technological advancement without moral direction can lead astray. Therefore, all national elements, particularly the youth as future guardians, are urged to embrace Pancasila as a living ideology.
“Do not let these noble values remain mere decorations on office walls or text in history books,” Dirga said.
He also called on the public to reaffirm their national commitment and demonstrate to the world that Indonesia is a great nation upholding religiosity, unity, and humanitarian values.
“As long as Indonesian blood flows in our veins, Pancasila will always live in the heartbeat of every child of the republic we cherish,” Dirga affirmed.
The Tabanan Regency Government also awarded former Paskibraka members from 2025, along with their coaches and medical staff. Dirga stated the certificates were not mere formalities but authentic recognition of their commitment, discipline, dedication, and hard work during their service, serving as a reminder of their moral responsibility as the nation’s successors.
Additionally, the regency bid farewell to its top youth candidates for the Bali Provincial and national Paskibraka selection in 2026. Dirga encouraged them to compete with enthusiasm and bring pride to Tabanan at higher levels.
Forty-two civil servants (PNS) retiring on 1 June 2026 were also honoured for their service in regional development and achieving Tabanan’s New Era of Safety, Excellence, and Civility (AUM).
The event also launched the eighth Bung Karno Month 2026 under the theme “Kawya Atma Kerthi - Celebrating the Proclamation Hero’s Spirit”, symbolising the need for Bung Karno’s struggle spirit to live on in the people’s work and service to the nation. The spirit of mutual cooperation, nationalism, unity, and courage in building Indonesia, particularly Tabanan, was hoped to inspire the current generation. The official launch was marked by releasing balloons into the sky.
