Tabanan Readies 244 Vehicles for 'Trans Siswa' School Transport Programme

The Tabanan Regency Transportation Agency (Dishub) is finalising preparations for the ‘Trans Siswa’ programme, holding a coordination meeting with drivers at Graha Yadnya Sanjayaning Singasana on Thursday (23/7/2026). The activity is part of the lead-up to the student transport service launch on Friday (24/7). Head of Dishub Tabanan Putu Dian Setiawan stated that the meeting aimed to evaluate the previous year’s programme while providing a briefing on standard operating procedures (SOP) to all drivers. According to Dian, the briefing is crucial to ensure all drivers understand how to provide proper service to students, from the pick-up process to drop-off at school. “This step is taken to support the success of the ‘Ayo Selamat Sekolah’ programme that has been run by the Tabanan Regency Government,” said Dian Setiawan. For the 2026/2027 academic year, the routes served remain largely the same as the previous year, with 104 routes covered by a total of 244 vehicles. These vehicles are prepared to meet the transportation needs of students at 23 junior high schools (SMP) spread across Tabanan Regency. As part of efforts to improve service quality, Dishub Tabanan has implemented several enhancements, including requiring all vehicles to be equipped with GPS Tracker devices. This technology is used to ensure vehicles operate according to their designated routes and to prevent data manipulation of journeys. “All vehicle activities can be properly recorded for monitoring and evaluation purposes,” he stressed. In addition, Dishub Tabanan is collaborating with the Tabanan Regency Narcotics Agency (BNK) and the Tabanan Regency Health Office to conduct drug tests on the drivers. The examinations cover narcotics, psychotropic substances, and other addictive substances to ensure all drivers are healthy and free from drug abuse, thereby providing safe services to students. Dian also invited the public to provide feedback on the Trans Siswa programme, noting that community participation is needed to ensure the availability of services and routes truly meets demand, allowing the programme to run on target and provide maximum benefits for students in Tabanan Regency.
