Tabanan Readies 244 Vehicles for 'Trans Siswa' School Transport Programme

The Tabanan Transport Department (Dishub) has finalised preparations for the Trans Siswa Programme through a coordination meeting with drivers (paramudi) at Graha Yadnya Sanjayaning Singasana on Thursday (23/7/2026). The session formed part of preparations ahead of the launch of the student transport service on Friday (24/7).

Head of Tabanan Dishub, Putu Dian Setiawan, said the meeting aimed to evaluate the programme’s implementation in the previous year whilst also briefing all drivers on standard operating procedures (SOP).

According to Dian, the briefing is important so that all drivers understand how to provide good service to students, from the pick-up process through to drop-off at school.

“This step is taken to support the success of the Ayo Selamat Sekolah (Let’s Get to School Safely) Programme that the Tabanan Regency Government has been running,” said Dian Setiawan.

For the 2026/2027 academic year, the routes served remain essentially the same as the previous year, namely 104 routes with a total of 244 vehicles. The hundreds of vehicles have been prepared to meet the transport needs of students at 23 junior high schools (SMP) across Tabanan Regency.

As part of efforts to improve service quality, Tabanan Dishub has also made several refinements. One of these requires all vehicles to be equipped with GPS tracker devices.

The technology is used to ensure vehicles genuinely operate on the designated routes whilst preventing manipulation of journey data.

“All vehicle activity will be properly recorded as material for supervision and evaluation,” he affirmed.

In addition, Tabanan Dishub is working with the Tabanan Regency Narcotics Agency (BNK) and the Tabanan Regency Health Office to conduct narcotics tests on the drivers.

The checks cover narcotics, psychotropic substances and other addictive substances to ensure all drivers are in good health and free from drug abuse, so that they can provide a safe service to students.

Dian also invited members of the public to provide feedback on the implementation of the Trans Siswa Programme. According to him, public participation is needed so that the services and routes provided genuinely match needs, ensuring the programme is on target and delivers maximum benefit to students in Tabanan Regency.
