Tabanan Police Uncover Dozens of Theft and Drug Cases in Two Months
The Tabanan Resort Police have uncovered a series of criminal cases, ranging from theft to drug trafficking, during the period of May to June 2026. The disclosures were announced by Tabanan Police Chief AKBP I Putu Bayu Pati during a press conference at the Tabanan Police headquarters lobby on Monday (6/7/2026).
Bayu Pati explained that the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Tabanan Police uncovered 11 criminal cases, securing 11 suspects. These cases were dominated by theft, with nine incidents. In addition to theft, police also uncovered one case of embezzlement and one case of vandalism. Evidence seized varied, including motorcycles, a pick-up truck, cash, mobile phones, gold jewellery, workshop equipment, and electronic goods.
“A number of prominent cases were successfully uncovered in a short time. One of them was the theft of a Suzuki Carry pick-up in Baturiti, where the perpetrator was arrested less than an hour after the incident,” Bayu Pati stated. Police also uncovered the theft of a Vespa Sprint which had been taken as far as outside Bali. Furthermore, officers arrested a suspect for motorcycle embezzlement in Denpasar and uncovered several cases involving the theft of motorcycles, empty houses, money, bags, and welding equipment. Investigations revealed that the majority of perpetrators exploited the victims’ carelessness during their crimes. “The most dominant motive was economic factors,” Bayu Pati said.
All suspects are charged under articles corresponding to their criminal acts, including Article 476, Article 477, Article 486, and Article 521 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, with prison sentences ranging from two years and six months to seven years. “We continue to urge the public to increase their vigilance, especially by ensuring vehicles are locked, not leaving valuables unattended, and immediately reporting any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the Tabanan Police uncovered 11 drug cases, arresting 17 suspects. One of the largest seizures occurred in Kediri District, with evidence of methamphetamine weighing 17.06 grammes net. The Kediri case involved two suspects arrested at a boarding house in Banjar Nyambu, Nyambu Village, Kediri District. “Police found 16 packets of methamphetamine stored inside a motorcycle seat, as well as a glass pipe containing methamphetamine in the boarding room,” he explained.
In total, police seized 125 packets of methamphetamine with a total net weight of 43.06 grammes and one ecstasy pill weighing 0.44 grammes net. Several suspects were known to be repeat offenders who had re-entered the illicit drug trade. The cases were uncovered across several areas, including Tabanan, Kediri, Penebel, Kerambitan, Baturiti, and Pupuan districts, with investigations also extending to Badung Regency and Denpasar City. “Most of the suspects acted as dealers, using a method of storing and distributing methamphetamine through a ‘tempel’ (dead drop) system at various locations,” he added. Officers also seized digital scales, methamphetamine pipes (bongs), pipettes, plastic clips, mobile phones, and cash suspected to be proceeds from narcotics transactions.
