Tabanan Police Uncover 21 Theft and Drug Cases Between January and February 2026
The Tabanan Police Department revealed dozens of criminal cases during the period of January to February 2026. The case disclosures were held in the lobby of the Tabanan Police Headquarters on Wednesday (25/2/2026). The cases handled include theft and narcotics offences.
Chief of the Tabanan Police, AKBP I Putu Bayu Pati, accompanied by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Teddy Satria Permana, stated that they successfully solved 14 theft cases with 19 suspects. Two of these cases involved the theft of car rims in Banjar Cepaka, Kediri District, and the theft of batteries from telecommunications towers.
“Specifically, the disclosure of the telecommunications tower battery theft case involved four police departments, namely Tabanan, Jembrana, Karangasem, and Buleleng,” said Bayu Pati.
Teddy explained that the batteries were taken, and the battery components were used to create devices for electrofishing, while the remaining components were sold to scrap collectors.
“In carrying out their actions, the perpetrators involved insiders by damaging the locks on the telecommunications provider’s battery boxes,” he added.
Meanwhile, the suspects in the car rim theft case are charged with theft, with a maximum prison sentence of nine years. The police stated that the actions were carried out quickly and in an organised manner.
Regarding drug cases, the Head of the Narcotics Unit, AKP I Ketut Ananta, said that during the two months, they uncovered seven cases with a total of 11 suspects, with evidence including methamphetamine and ecstasy. Interestingly, one of the 11 suspects is a village official in Bongan Village, Tabanan District, with the initials PA.
“According to PA’s statement, the suspect has purchased the drugs seven times since 2024. The reason is to use it as a remedy to calm himself,” said Ketut Ananta.
The total evidence uncovered includes 148 packages of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 49.98 grams or 33.87 grams net, and 16 ecstasy pills with a weight of 6.25 grams.
