Tabanan Regional Hospital is preparing two backup medical service teams during the Nyepi public holiday in 2026. These standby teams have been stationed specifically at the Emergency Unit to ensure healthcare services continue to be available for residents requiring emergency treatment during Nyepi.

Tabanan Hospital Director I Gede Sudiarta stated that in addition to staff on morning shifts, the hospital is also preparing on-call medical personnel across two tiers. “The numbers are almost equivalent to the morning shift medical team,” Sudiarta explained during an interview on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Tabanan Hospital has also coordinated with traditional villages for emergency response handling, including patient retrieval during Nyepi. The teams on duty under these circumstances consist of backup staff or on-call personnel.

To support service delivery, the hospital has stationed several ambulances and corpse transport vehicles at the facility. However, the hospital cannot immediately transport deceased persons to their homes if a patient dies during the Nyepi observance.

“When a resident passes away at the hospital during Nyepi, we temporarily retain the body. After Nyepi or the following day, it can then be transported to their residence,” he said.

Meanwhile, polyclinic services are confirmed to be temporarily closed during the Nyepi observance. Sudiarta explained that polyclinic services will be closed from 18 to 20 March, with services resuming on 21 March following Ngembak Geni.
