The Tabanan Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has allocated approximately Rp 6 billion for disaster management in 2026. Of this total, Rp 1.5 billion has already been used to handle disasters in the last four months.

The Head of the Tabanan BPBD, I Nyoman Srinada Giri, stated that the budget is designated for disaster mitigation as well as the maintenance and procurement of facilities and infrastructure to support the performance of field personnel.

“From the Rp 6 billion, we have already submitted a request for disbursement of Rp 1.5 billion to address disasters in December 2025 and from January to March,” Srinada Giri explained when contacted on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Dozens of Disaster Sites in Early Year

Srinada Giri detailed that in January there were 36 disaster sites recorded, 31 in February, and 28 in March. The disasters were dominated by floods and landslides due to high rainfall.

“In addition, we also need procurement and maintenance of equipment such as chainsaws, rubber boats, and water pumps,” he emphasised.

He added that some of the current equipment requires renewal, particularly the chainsaws. This follows issues encountered during the handling of fallen trees.

“When tested at the office, it started, but during operations at the site, it wouldn’t turn on. Additionally, we need pumps with 5-inch pipes for effective suction during floods,” he concluded.
