BANGKOK (DPA): Turkish Airlines has made Bangkok its Far East hub with six weekly flights serving the Thai capital, a news report said Saturday.
The airline boosted its Istanbul-Bangkok flights from four to six per week as of Sunday, using 271-seat A340-311 jetliners, the Bangkok Post newspaper said.
"We'll use Bangkok as a hub to fly to other countries in Southeast Asia and Far East Asia as well as Australia, where 100,000 Turks live," said Gurik Yuksel, Turkish Airline's executive vice president.
He added that the airline was seeking a code-sharing agreement with Thai Airways International on the route because Thailand's national carrier had stopped serving the Bangkok-Istanbul sector two years ago.
