PT Synnex Metrodata Indonesia (SMI) has announced a strategic partnership with Fastly to expand its portfolio of edge cloud solutions, aimed at improving the performance and security of digital infrastructure for companies in Indonesia. The collaboration is focused on strengthening application and API security against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, while also reducing latency for digital services in the banking, retail, telecommunications, and digital-native company sectors. Based on projections from Mordor Intelligence, Indonesia’s digital transformation market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.11 percent during the 2026-2031 period.

Director of Synnex Metrodata Indonesia Lie Heng explained that this move coincides with the domestic industry’s focus on increasing investment in digital infrastructure. “The partnership between PT Synnex Metrodata Indonesia and Fastly comes at a crucial time, when organisations in Indonesia are prioritising investment in data and cyber security,” said Lie Heng. SMI acts to facilitate access to Fastly’s programmable edge cloud platform as well as provide technical support from the pre-sales, implementation, to after-sales stages through its channel ecosystem network in the local market.

Meanwhile, Area Vice President Asia at Fastly Rachel Ler highlighted the acceleration of AI and cloud-based technology adoption that requires reliable infrastructure support. “As this transformation accelerates, organisations need infrastructure capable of delivering exceptional performance and robust security at scale,” said Rachel Ler.

Fastly’s edge infrastructure enables data and application processing to be carried out closer to user locations to ensure resilience and speed of access to digital services.
