PT Syngenta Indonesia has launched MIRAVIS Duo®, a new crop protection technology for rice designed to increase agricultural productivity and strengthen the national rice self-sufficiency agenda. The product was introduced in Glempang Village, Maos District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java, which serves as one of the nation’s key rice granaries.

This launch establishes Indonesia as the first country in the world to introduce MIRAVకి Duo® featuring ADEPIDYN™ technology for rice crops. Syngenta selected Cilacap Regency as the launch site due to its status as a strategic rice production centre that contributes significantly to the national rice supply.

“Today, we are writing a new chapter in history. MIRAVIS Duo with ADEPIDYN™ technology for rice crops is being launched for the first time in the world right here in Indonesia,” said Eryanto, President Director of Syngenta Indonesia, during the launch in Cilacap.

Eryanto noted that the agricultural sector faces increasingly complex challenges, ranging from crop disease outbreaks to unpredictable weather conditions. These factors can affect plant health, reduce grain production and quality, and ultimately impact farmers’ incomes.

He stated that MIRAVIS Duo® was introduced as part of the company’s commitment to providing innovations tailored to the needs of farmers in the field. The product is designed to help control plant diseases more effectively while maintaining plant health to support increased yields.

“The launch of MIRAVIS Duo® today is Syngenta’s contribution to assisting farmers and strengthening the national food security and rice self-sufficiency agenda,” he added.

Cicik Setyorini, Head of Food Crops at the Cilacap Regency Agriculture Office, welcomed the agricultural innovation that can assist farmers in facing various cultivation challenges. Cilacap Regency possesses approximately 66,000 hectares of paddy fields. In 2025, the region’s rice production reached 855,042 tonnes of dry milled grain (GKG), with a rice surplus of approximately 321,000 tonnes.

In recent years, Cilacap has averaged a rice surplus of around 300,000 tonnes per year, making it a vital pillar for national rice requirements.

“What PT Syngenta is doing is an innovation in the field of agricultural cultivation, particularly for rice, with the launch of MIRAVIS Duo®. The right innovation will be able to help us all,” said Cicik.

She explained that farmers currently face not only attacks from plant pests and diseases (OPT) but also increasingly unpredictable weather conditions. Therefore, crop protection technology is essential to maintain productivity and improve harvest quality.

The Cilacap Regency Government hopes that collaboration between farmers, the government, agricultural extension workers, and the private sector will continue to be strengthened so that agricultural innovations can be utilised optimally. Such synergy is expected to maintain rice productivity and reinforce the region’s contribution as one of the nation’s primary rice granaries.
