Jakarta (ANTARA) - Syngenta Indonesia has introduced an innovative fungicide for rice based on Adepidyn technology as part of an effort to support the national food self-sufficiency programme, particularly for rice.

Eryanto, President Director of Syngenta Indonesia, stated that the fungicide, named Miravis Duo, is designed to meet farmers’ needs for reliable disease control solutions. It provides strong and consistent protection while keeping plants healthy, greener, and cleaner, thereby supporting the potential for higher yields.

“With Adepidyn technology, this product enhances plant health and provides effective protection against diseases even amidst increasingly unpredictable weather conditions,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday. He added that the technology is also known for its excellent rain resistance, providing protection for up to 14 days after application.

Eryanto noted that the launch of this innovative fungicide for rice, held in Cilacap Regency, Central Java, is a significant achievement as Indonesia is the first country to introduce Adepidyn technology specifically for rice cultivation. Through this launch, he added, the company demonstrates its commitment to helping farmers increase yields for maximum profit, accelerating fungicide technology innovation to meet farmers’ needs, and strengthening collaboration to ensure agricultural technology is used according to recommendations for optimal and sustainable results.

Following the launch in Cilacap, the rice fungicide product will soon be introduced in several major rice production centres across Indonesia to support national food security and rice self-sufficiency.

Cicik Setyorini, Head of Food Crops at the Cilacap Regency Agriculture Office, stated that the introduction of the fungicide aligns with local government efforts to increase productivity and strengthen rice cultivation at the farmer level. “We welcome this plant protection innovation, which can help farmers manage disease risks, especially amidst increasingly unpredictable weather,” she said. Her office hopes that such technology can be adopted wisely according to recommendations, so that the productivity and quality of rice harvests in the region continue to increase.

Cilacap Regency is known as one of the largest rice production centres in Java and Indonesia, with an estimated production of 855,042 tonnes of Dry Milled Grain (GKG), recording a rice surplus of more than 321,000 tonnes in 2025.

Musodik, a rice farmer from Cilacap, shared that after applying the technology to his rice crops, the grain appeared healthy and shiny, the flag leaves were greener and cleaner, and the harvest yield increased compared to the previous season.
