The Criminal Investigation Directorate of Central Java Regional Police has dismantled a major motorcycle trafficking syndicate based in Pekalongan that obtained new vehicles without proper documentation on a large scale. From the case, Central Java police seized 87 new motorcycles of various makes and types as evidence.

The Criminal Investigation Director of Central Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Anwar Nasir, revealed that in the motorcycle trafficking case, police have apprehended two suspects: R (43 years old), resident of Pekalongan, and S (47 years old), resident of Batang Regency. Both were arrested in Pekalongan on 30 January 2026. A third suspect, AM, remains at large.

Anwar revealed that since 2024, suspect R had been collaborating with AM in buying and selling new motorcycles without proper documentation. To obtain motorcycles with zero-kilometre odometers, R was assisted by suspect S. The modus operandi involved submitting credit applications for motorcycles to leasing companies using borrowed national identity documents. Applications were submitted not only in Pekalongan but also in other areas such as Temanggung and Solo.

“The perpetrators sought members of the public willing to lend their identity cards in exchange for payment to apply for motorcycle credit from leasing companies. After the motorcycles were received from dealers, the units were not paid in instalments but were instead collected and sent to a warehouse in Bandung Regency via railway freight services,” Anwar explained in his statement on Thursday (26 February 2026).

He added that in one month, R could send and sell five to seven motorcycles to AM. “The total number of vehicles sent was approximately 150 motorcycles without documents,” he said.
