Symposium on information

JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Tourism, Post and
Telecommunications will hold a symposium on the 21st Century's
Global Information Society on June 12 in cooperation with the
Indonesian Telecommunications Society.

Minister Joop Ave is scheduled to open the symposium which
will feature several speakers including the secretary-general of
the International Telecommunications Union, Pekka Tarjanne.

Multimedia, satellite-based telecommunications services,
telecommunications law and finance will be on the agenda.

Other speakers will include Susan Ness, of the Federal
Communication Commission of the U.S., the Ministry of Tourism,
Post and Telecommunications secretary-general Jonathan L. Parapak
and PT Telkom director of research and technology Suryatin
