Syahganda Addresses Narrative Warfare and AI Algorithms Following Appointment by Prabowo
Jakarta, VIVA – The Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom), Syahganda Nainggolan, has immediately addressed the direction of Palace communications following his appointment by President Prabowo Subianto.
As the Head of Bakom RI, succeeding Muhammad Qodari, Syahganda emphasised the importance of effective communication in conveying the President’s vision. He affirmed his commitment to continuing existing Palace communication programmes while strengthening the narrative of the President’s ideas to the public.
One aspect receiving serious attention from the Head of Bakom is the issue of algorithms and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“We will study the matter of algorithms. Because, according to Yuval Noah Hararm, the greatest challenge in communication involves algorithms, AI, and so on. We will delve into that area,” Syahganda stated after officially assuming his role as Head of Bakom.
As an initial strategy, the Head of Bakom intends to form a special task force. “We may develop a special team to study how algorithms can damage or create a gap between the President’s thoughts and the public,” he explained.
Furthermore, the primary idea proposed by the Chairman of the Great Institute is how to navigate the ‘war of narratives’ in the current era of disruption. He also referenced his book, Sapiens, regarding the crucial role of communication and narrative in the development of civilisation.
Additionally, Syahganda expressed his desire to collaborate with the media to ensure government messages are effectively conveyed to the public, and that public feedback is relayed back to the government.
“Civilisation is being built by President Prabowo, who is ensuring the presence of the state, sovereignty, and the welfare of the people,” Syahganda explained.
“In the future, our battle will be a battle of narratives controlled by non-humans. These non-humans are known as Artificial Intelligence (AI),” he continued.
According to him, the President’s ideas have often been distorted by the forces of digital automation. Therefore, he aims to combine the resources of Bakom with currently developing technologies.
