Switzerland Offers Geneva as Host for US-Iran Peace Deal Signing

Switzerland has offered to host the signing of a peace agreement between the United States and Iran in Geneva, praising Pakistan’s role in facilitating the diplomacy. The Swiss foreign ministry confirmed it is fully engaged and in close contact with both Washington and Tehran, stating it has proposed Switzerland as the location for a potential signing ceremony. The ministry added that it is actively supporting efforts towards a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at consolidating a ceasefire and paving the way for de-escalation. Reports indicate that four US Air Force C-17 transport planes departed for Europe carrying equipment for a possible visit by Vice President JD Vance to Geneva for the signing. This follows comments by President Donald Trump that a ‘great deal’ had been reached and could be signed as early as this weekend. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also confirmed that both sides have agreed on a final draft of the prospective agreement and that the next steps are being finalised.
