Jakarta - The South Jakarta Administrative City Government has reminded residents who plan to return home during the holidays to switch off electricity and cookers at their homes before departing to their hometowns.

“Residents are expected to ensure that all electrical appliances have been unplugged and cookers are switched off or non-functional to avoid the risk of fire,” said Muhammad Anwar, the Administrator of South Jakarta Administrative City, when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.

Anwar also urged South Jakarta residents intending to return home to ensure the security of their homes before leaving for their hometowns.

Subsequently, residents should secure their homes by entrusting them to neighbours or local community leaders during their absence.

“For residents who own vehicles but do not have safe parking space, it is recommended that they deposit their vehicles at the village office or other safer locations,” he said.

He added that regular regional coordination meetings (rakorwil) are conducted to discuss various issues in the area that cannot be resolved at the sub-district or village level.

“Thus, these issues will be followed up in this meeting by involving relevant sectors, such as sub-district offices (sudin) under the coordination of the city administrator,” he said.
