Swindler arrested
JAKARTA (JP): South Jakarta Police have arrested a man for
tricking 20 job seekers out of millions of rupiah.
A victim, who refused to be identified, said he and his
friends had paid Rp 1.5 million (US$652) each to Pramono a few
months ago after Pramono promised them jobs at a foreign shipping
company.
Pramono stalled by saying he had received the order but needed
time to get the work permits.
Two months ago, the 20 people duped by Pramono grew impatient
and asked for their money back. Pramono agreed to refund the
money.
Later, after Pramono failed to keep his word, the would-be job
seekers reported him to the police.
"We still want our money back," a worker said. (04)
