Swimsuits not 'bikinis'

Swimsuits not 'bikinis'

From Kompas

The management of Permata Puri Sport Center (PPSC) in Cibubur
would like to thank Mrs. Aida Taridala for her interest and visit
to PPSC on Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, and at the same time we would
like to convey our regrets about the incident.

We would like to clarify your complaint published in Kompas
Jan. 15, captioned: Puri sport and bathing suits.

It is the life guard's job and responsibility to see to it
that the rules of the Sport Center are followed, besides
preventing swimming accidents.

The guard said explicitly at the time, that swimming is only
allowed in bathing suits. The word bathing suit does not
necessarily mean bikini as you implied in your letter to Kompas.
The receptionist did not use the word bikini either, she used the
word bathing suit.

Swimming rules in other public swimming pools carry the same
message as ours: "Swimmers should wear appropriate swim wear
(bathing suits) and follow the (polite) code of conduct towards
fellow swimmers."

We feel that we ought to straighten the problem and hope that
the misunderstanding between a bathing suit and bikini has been
lifted.
