Swimmers rewarded for fast times

JAKARTA: Five swimmers who set national 50-meter records
earlier this month have received Rp 50 million in bonuses from
the National Sports Council (KONI).

Felix Sutanto in the backstroke, Ira Kurniawan (butterfly),
17-year-old Harizal (backstroke and butterfly) as well as
breastrokers Desak Nyoman Rina and Omar Surya Atmaja received Rp
10 million each for their times at the Tahapan BCA Sprint
swimming championship in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Sept. 4.

"We will continuously explore the athlete's skills in reaching
greater achievement and give them incentives for their
contribution to sports," KONI chief Agum Gumelar said on
