Swift Response: West Java Provincial and Sukabumi Regency Governments Handle Fire Affecting 51 Homes in Cisolok
The West Java Provincial Government, through its Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), is coordinating intensively with the Sukabumi Regency BPBD to respond swiftly to a non-natural disaster involving a residential fire in Sirnaresmi Village, Cisolok District, Sukabumi Regency. The fire occurred on Saturday, 25 July 2026, triggered by extreme temperature increases and widespread drought conditions in the Sukabumi Regency area. The incident’s epicentre was in the Ciptamulya settlement, specifically in RT 05 and RT 07, RW 7.
Based on the latest report from the Sukabumi Regency BPBD on Sunday, 26 July 2026 at 17.00 WIB, the incident affected 51 families (KK) or approximately 159 individuals. In detail, the affected victims in RT 05 numbered 25 families (77 people), and in RT 07, 26 families (82 people). All victims have been safely evacuated to their relatives’ homes. No fatalities, injuries, or missing persons were reported. However, the material damage from the fire is quite massive.
Based on a preliminary assessment, the flames destroyed 51 residential houses, leaving them heavily damaged. Beyond housing, the blaze also consumed public facilities, including one mosque and one early childhood education (PAUD) building. Several other supporting structures were also damaged, comprising 49 leuit (rice barns), two lisung (traditional rice pounding tools), six food stalls, and two public sanitation facilities (MCK). In the vehicle sector, one four-wheeled vehicle, a Maskara car, along with three motorcycles, were also gutted.
In response to the scale of the destruction, the Sukabumi Regency Government, through a cross-sectoral coordination meeting, has designated the Ciptamulya RT 05 and RT 07 areas as an Emergency Response zone. An Emergency Response Post has been activated to serve as the command centre for aid and information. The primary focus of this emergency phase includes victim assistance, fulfilment of basic needs, medical services, special protection for vulnerable groups, and initial restoration of damaged infrastructure.
Given the conditions at the evacuation site, several urgent needs must be met immediately, including ready-to-eat meals, the establishment of a public kitchen, baby supplies (milk, nappies), supplies for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, toiletries, mattresses, blankets, as well as first-aid medicines and health testing facilities. According to reports on Wednesday (29/7/2026), the Sukabumi Regency Joint Disaster Management Team, volunteers, and local authorities remain on site to continue comprehensive data collection and assessment to ensure aid is distributed accurately.
