The arrest of Taufik Hidayat (TH), a suspect in the confinement and abuse of a woman with the initials YTR (29) in Bandung Regency, is considered an important step in law enforcement. The legal process against the perpetrator is expected to proceed to completion and deliver justice for the victim.

Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from Electoral District (Dapil) West Java II, Rajiv, expressed appreciation for the swift action of the West Java Regional Police, who successfully apprehended the suspect in Majalaya, Bandung Regency. According to him, this success demonstrates the authorities’ seriousness in handling a case that has drawn public attention.

“I give the highest appreciation to the West Java Police Chief and all ranks who have worked hard to successfully arrest the perpetrator. This is an important step to ensure justice for the victim and provide legal certainty to the public,” Rajiv said in a statement on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

The NasDem Party politician stated that the case of confinement accompanied by alleged years-long violence is a serious criminal offence that must be processed in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

“The acts committed by the perpetrator are extremely heinous, inhumane, and have caused deep physical and psychological suffering for the victim. Therefore, I hope the legal process can proceed professionally, transparently, and provide a full sense of justice for the victim,” Rajiv said.

Rajiv urged law enforcement officials to investigate the case thoroughly, including exploring the possibility of other parties who may have known about or been involved in the incident.

“After the perpetrator has been successfully arrested, the next step is to ensure that the legal process runs to completion. If proven guilty, the perpetrator must receive a punishment commensurate with his actions to provide a deterrent effect and serve as a lesson that there is no room for perpetrators of violence to escape legal accountability,” Rajiv stressed.

As a legislator from a region covering Bandung Regency and West Bandung Regency, Rajiv is also concerned about the victim’s recovery process. He commended the medical personnel, local government, and various parties who have provided assistance and care to the victim.

“The victim’s recovery must be a shared concern. I hope the victim receives ongoing medical, psychological, and social support so she can return to living her life well with her family and surrounding environment,” Rajiv stated.

According to Rajiv, this case must become a momentum to strengthen the protection of women while increasing public awareness of various forms of violence occurring in the surrounding environment.

“The successful arrest of the perpetrator shows that the state is present and does not remain silent in the face of crimes against humanity. We hope justice can be upheld, the victim’s rights restored, and similar cases will not recur in the future,” Rajiv said.
