Minister for State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi stated that Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, contacted President Prabowo Subianto on the evening of Monday, 27 April 2026, after personally inspecting the site of the KRL Commuter Line and Argo Bromo Anggrek train accident at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City, West Java.

Via telephone, Dasco directly informed the President about the situation of the victims and aspirations regarding the construction of flyover bridges at railway crossings and guard posts, as well as the inadequate state of railway facilities, such as the scarcity of crossing gates.

Dasco also conveyed long-term solutions by proposing the acceleration of the Bulak Kapal flyover project in Bekasi, which had previously been stalled due to budget constraints. It is reported that Dasco raised this matter and received approval from President Prabowo.

According to Pras, Dasco immediately relayed the aspirations received by the DPR RI leadership to the President. Consequently, the President responded swiftly by visiting the train accident victims at Bekasi City General Hospital, and the government promptly prepared a Rp4 trillion budget to repair 1,800 railway crossings on Java Island.

“Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Mr Dasco, directly contacted the President on the night of the train accident incident in Bekasi. From that communication, the President immediately visited the victims and prepared a budget for improving railway facilities,” said Pras in his statement on Thursday, 30 April 2026.

Pras added that President Prabowo had given direct instructions for the train accident victims in Bekasi to receive maximum care. Furthermore, President Prabowo highlighted aspects of technology and the condition of railway facilities, considering anticipatory measures to ensure such incidents do not recur.

Previously, the government confirmed that the flyover bridge construction project at railway crossings would be funded from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

“There are about 1,800 such crossing points, I believe since the Dutch era, and I have ordered them all to be repaired immediately,” said Prabowo at Bekasi City General Hospital on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.

Prabowo explained that the government is preparing comprehensive improvement measures, including options for additional guards or other security systems at every vulnerable point. These could take the form of guard posts or similar, with implementation details to be determined.
