Swearing out corruption
Swearing out corruption
From Pikiran Rakyat
In view of the fact that a lot of our government officials
have been involved in corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN),
I am of the opinion that one of the reasons for their involvement
is their weakness of faith. If they had strong faith, they would
not have committed corruption or any other shameful, sinful
deeds.
I would like to take this opportunity to propose that the
official or officials responsible for formulating the oath for
installing officials, including the president, the vice
president, all members of the House of Representatives and
People's Consultative Assembly, all Cabinet ministers and any
other high-ranking officials, revise the current oath so that it
will read as follows:
"In the name of the Almighty God, I do hereby swear that in
performing my job, I will not deliberately let myself become
involved in corruption, collusion and nepotism. If I
intentionally or unintentionally commit corruption, collusion
and/or nepotism, I am prepared to receive a punishment: a curse
from God both here on earth and in the hereafter."
It is my hope that under this revised oath, those officials
will think twice or a hundred times before committing KKN.
