Swasti Sari Cooperative Board Reported to Police After Chaotic AGM Opened by Cooperatives Minister
Yohanes Laga Tapobali has reported the board of Kopdit Swasti Sari to the Kupang City Police. Yohanes is a cooperative member and participant in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Swasti Sari Cooperative, which was opened by Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono on 26 April. Chaos erupted during that AGM.
Through his legal representative Ferdinandus Himan, Yohanes reported several cooperative board members to the Kupang City Police for alleged forgery of the AGM minutes document.
“We were accompanied by several lawyer friends today to come to the Kupang City Police to assist our client, Mr Yohanes Laga Tapobali,” said Ferdinandus Himan on Friday night (1/5/2026) at the Kupang City Police.
According to Ferdi, the official report has been received by the investigators at Kupang City Police. “We hope that practices like this do not thrive in NTT. We also request that such practices do not occur, especially in this cooperative, because it must maintain the cooperative itself to operate accountably,” explained Ferdinandus.
He added that many members feel disadvantaged and trust levels have declined. According to him, the suspects are alleged to have violated Article 391 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum penalty of six years in prison.
“De facto, it is valid because it was announced by the committee based on the minutes made by the board itself, and normally the minutes should also be signed by the election committee. However, the minutes document we received was only signed by the board,” Ferdi explained.
Meanwhile, Yohanes assessed that there were aspects reflecting violations of cooperative principles in the AGM process, the video of which went viral. “Several board members are alleged to have collectively done things suspected of manipulating the AGM results with the aim of changing the composition of the board and supervisors,” said Yohanes.
He also stated that the minutes made by the board are legally flawed because they were not signed by the committee. “We suspect that is a fake document,” he emphasised.
Yohanes accused there was an attempt to obstruct Yohanes Sason Helan from becoming the cooperative chairman. It is known that Sason Helan is the former GM of Kopdit Swasti Sari for 32 years.
Meanwhile, there has been no official statement from the Kopdit Swasti Sari side regarding the report at Kupang City Police. It is known that previously, chaos occurred during the AGM of Kopdit Swasti Sari opened by Minister Ferry Juliantono. Several participants accused the minutes of being legally flawed.
